Math Practice
Fun ways to help your build confidence and use math in meaningful ways:
- Setting the table - count how many plates, cups, knives and forks
- Enjoy walks, look at house numbers
Sing familiar Number Rhymes

- Set-up a treasure hunt - your child has to find and follow numbers in order

- Shared Storytime: ask questions to invite discussion, e.g. “what do you think will happen next?”, or “can you think of another ending to the story?”
- Create and act out stories together (include the whole family).
- Hide the Teddy - use simple instructions to help your child find the teddy - then let them hide it.
- Play ‘Simon Says’ to help with listening and following instructions

- In the bath soap up the wall and allow your child to draw in the soap
- Use bath crayons (easy to remove)
- Create a summer holiday journal. Encourage your child to draw a picture and label their drawing.
- Write secret messages to one another.
